UCRC / SEREFO: The Minister Mahamadou FAMANTA says he is very honored and impressed by the scientific work done in the laboratories

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, professor Mahamadou FAMANTA visited the research centers of the University of Science, Technique and Technology of Bamako (USTTB).

During this visit, Prof. Mahamoudou Famanta exchanged with teachers and officials of the various structures of the University of Science, Technique and Technology of Bamako (USTTB); namely the Medical School and Dentistry (FMOS) , the faculty of Science and Technique (FST), the Institute of Applied Sciences (ISA), the UCRC….

After the welcome address of the USTTB Rector, Pr Adama Diaman Keita, UCRC Director, Prof. Seydou Doumbia informed that the Clinical Research Center had laboratories for infectious disease analysis and vaccine trials that respond to international standards. These laboratories, he adds, make a lot of contributions to the fight against Ebola virus disease. “Suspicious samples from Mali and other countries such as Guinea… have been diagnosed in our labs…,” he said.

In addition, Professor Doumbia spoke of difficulties, such as the lack of adequate infrastructure for staff. In his speech, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Mahamadou FAMANTA, said he had taken note. At the end of the exchanges, a visit to research center followed. He was accompanied to the Data Center, entomology laboratories, the SEREFO laboratory of the UCRC, the laboratory of studies on drug resistance, and so on.

At the end of this guided tour by Professor Seydou Doumbia and Pr Adama Diaman Keita … the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, professor Mahamadou Famanta said he was very honored and impressed by the scientific work done in the labs. “We are coming out with the conviction that quite convincing results will come out of the research activities and we wish you a lot of success,” he concluded.
