Dr. Djeneba Dabitao,Chief of the ImmunoCore Laboratory

Dr. Djeneba Dabitao received her doctorate in Pharmacy from the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Odonto-Stomatology (FMPOS) of the University of Bamako (aka University of Sciences of Techniques and Technologies of Bamako [USTTB]) in 2004.

The same year, she was recruited as a Junior Scientist at SEREFO Laboratory, an NIH-funded program, to study the pathogenesis of HIV and Tuberculosis co-infection. In 2007, she went to the United States for her Master of Science training followed by a Ph.D. training at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) At Hopkins, she specialized in Molecular Biology and Immunology and obtained her doctoral degree in 2015.

She returns in Mali the same year to start a Senior Scientist position at UCRC. In 2016, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Faculty of Pharmacy of the USTTB, while pursuing her research position at UCRC. She is currently the Chief of the UCRC ImmunoCore laboratory, where she manages the lab and oversees immunological aspects of clinical and translational studies performed at the center under the supervision of the UCRC direction.

Dr. Dabitao is the recipient of the Eleanor Bliss Honorary Fellowship (2009) from Johns Hopkins University and the American Association of Immunologist Abstract Award (2014).
