He is a biologist at the UCRC Laboratories, working in the Tuberculosis Laboratory, a certified BSL-3 facility. He has a broad background in clinical microbiology, with specific training and expertise on transmission dynamics and the immune response to tuberculosis infection, especially in individuals who are co-infected with HIV.

In my role as biologist of the Tuberculosis Laboratory, I performed tuberculosis diagnosis and identification using classical and novel molecular tools such as fluorescent and FDA smear, LED and ordinary microscopy, solid and liquid culture, Capilia TB® test, GenProbe Accuprobe®, MGIT AST/SIRE® drug susceptibility testing to detect early drug resistance, and spoligotype analysis to identify the strains’ genotype).

Our laboratory includes a certified BSL-3 laboratory where anti-mycobacterial drug resistance testing is performed. We recently added to our platform the DST by genotyping Hain life Technology. Currently he has been working too on the PREVAC project (Ebola Vaccine Trial).
