Call for Concept Papers: $25,000 Donald Krogstad Award for Early-Career Malian Scientists: Submit Your Concept Paper by June 30

Donald Krogstad, MD, FASTMH, had a distinguished career as a physician-scientist and malaria researcher starting in the 1960s. He was a dedicated member and past president of ASTMH. While Don is best known for his contributions to research on the pathogenesis and treatment of malaria, he dedicated the last 30 years of his life to mentoring and collaborating with colleagues from Mali, resulting in more than a dozen Malian scientists trained that are now academic leaders in Africa and elsewhere.

As a result of the generosity of the Krogstad family, the newly established Donald Krogstad Award for Early-Career Malian Scientists is providing funding of $25,000 US total for up to two-years for scientists from Mali to pursue research in tropical medicine and/or public health with the goal of improving the lives of Malians.

This annual award will support an early-career Malian scientist in pursuing research that aims to blend laboratory and field epidemiological approaches broadly related to solving priority health issues in Mali. This award is a fitting legacy to a colleague, mentor and friend.
