Sanitation of Bamako: a campaign launched at Point G

The Minister of the Environment for Sanitation and Sustainable Development, Mr. Housseyni Amion Guindo has chosen Point G, located in the commune III, of Bamako, to launch a sanitation campaign of the city of Bamako, on Friday, June 28, 2019

The area surrounding this faculty, which houses the UCRC / SEREFO laboratories, was filled with garbage. Indeed, poor management of household waste causes poor hygiene that offers bioecological conditions favorable to the development of pathogens namely viruses, bacteria and parasites, responsible for many diseases that are rife in our neighborhoods.

In order to stem the development of these residues with potential health risks, the Minister of the Environment for Sanitation and Sustainable Development, Mr. Housseyni Amion Guindo chose the Point G as the starting point of his campaign.

The official launch of a sanitation campaign for the city of Bamako brought together several other actors. These include the Chairman and CEO of the Ozone Group , Aziz El Badraoui, a representative of the National Directorate of Sanitation and Pollution and Nuisance Control (DNACPN), the mayor and the Imam Point G, students and teachers of the faculty.

Before Minister Guindo’s first shovel, the Dean reminded that the bad management of household waste was at the origin of the problem of the public health especially as it constitutes the dominant factor of creation of nests of production of Health threat vectors like mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches …

Dear Minister, your presence honors our faculty which houses the International Center for Excellence in Research-ICER-Mali, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States Government, through the Malaria Research and Training Center (MRTC) and the University Clinical Research Center (UCRC)“, declared the Dean of the FMOS and the Director of the UCRC, Prof Doumbia.

For his part, the CEO of the Ozone Group, Aziz El Badraoui, has pledged as president of the Ozone group, to have the evacuation of garbage stopped on this site… In his speech, the Minister of the Environment for Sanitation and Sustainable Development, Mr. Housseyni Amion Guindo, said he was convinced that Ozone-Mali would keep its promise, because with his department, the conditions for collaboration had been redefined.

After thanking and congratulating Prof. Seydou Doumbia for this proven act of patriotism, he declared that the Faculty of Medicine was a showcase of our country, thanks to its service to Africa in general and Mali in particular.

Thus, Minister Guindo launched a sanitation campaign of the city of Bamako, through a shovel. According to him, this campaign will help rid the Malian capital of rubbish by the end of August 2019.
